What Astro’s new compiler means for you

Why watch

A deep dive into Astro 7's new Rust-based compiler powered by Vite 8's Rolldown bundler. The video covers real benchmarks showing 15-61% build speed improvements on a 3,000-post MDX site, explains the stricter HTML/JSX parsing that breaks legacy behavior, details the whitespace collapsing gotcha with its compressHTML escape hatch, and demonstrates the new Markdown pipeline with built-in tables, footnotes, and smart punctuation. Ideal for developers maintaining large Astro projects or those evaluating it for content-heavy sites.
